Some time in February

This work exists as two performative video pieces that are in communication with each other. One is purely sonic and the intention of the black background is to balance out the busyness of the sounds that are performing. The sound and visual piece is less emotive and is in response to the piece before that is much busier. The work begins to explore the importance of the mundane within domestic spaces, to inform my (our) identity and produce knowledge along with how patriarchy functions through the everyday routine. A key point of inquiry for this work is how the mundane or everyday routine can be problematic in upholding patriarchy through simple, repetitive acts that require little to no thought. Self-narration is used as a way to document this process and to situate a particular kind of womanhood and identity – a kind of repetition that informs a constant state of becoming.
