Igoqo
Igoqo is a representation of female cow horns that are turning inwards and backwards. This is a rare breed of Nguni cow horns. This shape really intrigued me as I have never seen a cow with this shaped horns. In that I chose to combine the idea of horns and earthenware vessels to produce this pot. The theme of the work is based on Ukhamba (earthenware vessel) and izimpondo (horns). This collaboration of form and space is discovering new meaning and debating cultural stereotypes between wealth, property and protection in both the male and female perspective.
